Planted launches its famous planted.chicken product with new curry marinade

Kemptthal, April 4, 2022 - The Swiss foodtech start-up Planted, known for alternative proteins, especially its planted.chicken, is adding another creation to its product range: planted.chicken Curry. The new Curry Marinade was developed exclusively by Hiltl. planted.chicken Curry will be available in Coop stores throughout Switzerland from April 4, 2022. planted.chicken causes 74% fewer CO2e emissions and uses 46% less fresh water in production than the animal equivalent.

Planted produces meat from alternative proteins, focusing on the perfect bite. Inspired by nature, the company is pioneering a novel biostructuring approach that combines protein structuring and biotechnology. The Planted products, each made from different protein sources (peas, oats, sunflower), currently include: planted.chicken, planted.pulled, planted.kebab and planted.schnitzel. The planted.chicken, Planted's first product on the Swiss market, is now available from April new additionally with a curry marinade. Like each planted.chicken, also the planted.chicken Curry exclusively from natural ingredients: Pea protein, pea fiber, canola oil, water and a healthy dose of vitamin B12. The marinade has a fruity note, contains Indian curry spices and has a very slight spiciness.

Cooperation with Hiltl

The fine curry marinade was developed exclusively for Planted by Hiltl, the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant according to Guinness World Records. "We can't imagine our menu without Planted - and neither can our guests. We had a lot of fun developing a curry marinade. It offers a little bit of everything: just the right touch of salt and veers slightly into sweetness. The planted.chicken Curry can be fried, grilled on a skewer, rolled into wraps, or used as a topping for a bowl or salad. There's something for everyone!" enthuses Adrian Reimann, Head of Product and Recipe Development at Hiltl.  

Hiltl will include the planted.chicken From April 2022, curry will be included in the popular Hiltl Buffet in its restaurants, in the à la carte restaurant of Haus Hiltl and in the range of Hiltl Vegimetzg. Planted and Hiltl have a long-standing relationship, and the planted.bistro by Hiltl at the company's headquarters in Kemptthal is also operated by Hiltl.

Sustainability through and through

Planted is committed to using only 100% natural ingredients and no additives in its products. This is what makes them a truly healthy and better alternative for everyone. In addition, an in-depth analysis was recently conducted: planted.chicken Causes 74% less CO2e emissions and uses 46% less fresh water in production than the animal equivalent. To calculate the CO2e footprint, the entire life cycle of Planted products and their animal counterpart was evaluated. From the cultivation and harvesting of ingredients, to processing and transportation, energy consumption in our production facility, storage and transportation to stores, and disposal of packaging - everything was taken into account.

Availability  

Planted is available in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and recently also in the UK in restaurants and retail outlets as well as in the company's own web store across Europe. The novelty planted.chicken Curry will be available in Coop stores nationwide, in the Planted online store and in Hiltl Vegimetzg from April 2022.
