The topic of food waste is more topical than ever

More than a third of all food produced is wasted. This is a major contributor to the climate crisis: According to the FAO, food waste is responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gases. This is because numerous resources are used on the way from the field to the plate - for transport, processing or cooling, for example.

"We see the fight against food waste as one of the most effective solutions against climate change," says Alina Swirski, Country Manager of Too Good To Go Switzerland. "That's why we want to inspire and empower everyone to join us in the fight against food waste."

Too Good To Go is fighting its battle in Switzerland together with over 4,600 partner companies, almost 1.4 million registered users on the app, and various initiatives to raise awareness of the issue - and in some cases with rescue operations like these. Since Too Good To Go Switzerland was launched, the more than 3.2 million meals saved have saved around 8,000 tons of CO₂e. This corresponds to the same amount of CO₂e as caused by around 1,600 flights around the world or almost 50 years of hot showers.
